Rose Bowl Green Expo - Friday, July 23
12:40 p.m.: Talin Shahnazaryan - Green Friendly Kids

talin

My name is Talin Shahnazaryan. I was born on December 18, 1998. My parents migrated to the United States of America when I was 16 months old. I started my education in Head Start program in Glendale then I went Benjamin Franklin for Kindergarden. After kindergarden I transferred to Mark Keppel Elementary School. Now I am at Mark Keppel Elementary School and I am in the 5th grade with my teacher Mrs. Faieta. For the last 2 years I have been actively involved in Green Programs such as Solar and Wind Power.

My Goal is to educate students on how they can save water and power. I would like to find a way to make It fun and exciting for children. I have found many ways to make saving water and power fun and exciting but I think the best way to save water and power is through a recently created website called greenallowance.com. Green Allowance is a way for kids to save water and power. The way Green Allowance works is a child would sign up at greenallowance.com and they would receive energy saving tasks such as " Turn of the Lights in your house that you are not using." Once the child finishes the task money would go into the child's virtual piggy bank. At the end of the month the parents would check the child's account and see how much money they saved. The parent could give the  money to the child which would be the child's. "Allowance." I like to educate students one classroom at a time. More over, I think the 2010 Census is very important for our environment and green programs. Therefore, I have actively participated in creating the advertisement for 2010 Census, and I was recognized by the Mayor of the City of Glendale at the 2010, Month of February City Council Meeting.
