As a teenager, I strongly considered Medicine as a career. My favorite subject in high school was Physiology; I was always interested in health and wellness. Our family pediatrician was all set to help me get into UCLA Medical School. For a number of family situations that arose, that goal was not achieved. 

Rather, I was involved for a number of years in some creative endeavors. I was tour manager and a musician with a professional folkloric company, traveling all over the country. I was the founding marketing director of a musical theatre production company in Pasadena, CA. I started a very successful graphic design business.

Seeing how the practice of medicine has been compromised by our current system of health insurance, and how prescription drugs have come to be one of the leading causes of untimely death, I was glad that I had not become an M.D. Besides, I knew too many doctors who were literally miserable, stuck in a system that dictated to them how to treat their patients.
